Loving the slow rain we have gotten from tropical storm LEE, nothing scary...a quiet Labor Day weekend and Auburn football ...had to RALLY to WIN it...but a win is a win...42-38 (AU v. Utah State). Lots of screaming and cheering going on in this household...glad we avoided the crying!

High-Livin' in Fairhope

Today  was a hot one in lower Alabama, but my friends, Jami and Joanne and I wanted to see the Eastern Shore Art Association's "Watercolor & Graphic Arts Society" show over in Fairhope. Today was the last day to see the show. We made a glorious day of it starting with the exhibit.  Joanne had two pieces in this juried show and she never disappoints...Joanne is an amazing artist in whatever medium she chooses. Two of her nudes from figure group were on exhibit.

Installation Art Lecture...

Just returned from an interesting lecture given by my friend, artist and teacher, Mary Elizabeth Kimbrough, at Space 301. The topic this week was Installation Art.  As usual, MEK, as she is affectionately and widely known, did not disappoint.  I learned some new things tonight and that is always GOOD!  I will see with new eyes when opportunities arise for this modern approach to art. Installation art takes into account the viewer's whole sensory experience.  I want to know more about KaprowImgp0608 who before tonight I did not know...must read more on Duchamp as well. It is nice to attend an event like this just for the sake of learning and broadening one's horizons.  There is always so much more to know...

Murphy's Law...

If something can go wrong, it will... The concrete crew worked really hard, did a beautiful job on the pool surround, gathered up their tools, and left...about 30 minutes later...it started to R.A.I.N....for about 30 minutes...steadily...It wasn't a problem for MOST of the decking, but for the last areas finished  (and for ME!) it was a problem...Where the eaves dripped (poured) water, now there is a TRENCH!
The crew is on its way back to FIX IT!!! I'm OK!!!!!!
I think it WILL BE FIXED...I'm SURE IT WILL BE FIXED...because I have not paid the tab yet!!!
(Seriously, they are great and they will make it perfect I am certain!..BREATHE!!!!!
oh, the DRAMA!!!!!

Pouring Concrete

Today a crew is here to pour concrete around our pool and resurface/enlarge the old patio,  I am really looking forward to enjoying the outdoors more, especially this fall when it cools off a little.  Hopefully, I will be inclined to actually get in the pool and EXERCISE...without all that sweaty thing that happens with other forms of physical activity in the deep south...just stepping outside can sometimes take your breath away...it IS the HUMIDITY, fo sho!

Just Getting Started...

I have lived in L A all of my life (Lower Alabama).  I attended Auburn University and the University of South Alabama, earned Bachelor’s and Master’s of Elementary Education degrees, and recently retired after having taught elementary school for 33 years.

I have two amazing and wonderful sons, a beautiful daughter-in-law, and the most brilliant grandson on the planet...born in April! I also have the sweetest golden retriever "grand-dog ever! I enjoy traveling with friends and family, painting, and "making stuff".

I work in encaustic, acrylic, pen and ink, watercolor, collage, assemblage, mixed media, and textiles...I love it all!!!  I have shown at the West Regional Mobile Public Library, the Joe Jefferson Playhouse, Barnes & Noble, The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, and Art(ology), Inc.

My artwork can be seen at Art(ology), Inc. on Cathedral Square in downtown Mobile. My art often featured on the Artology website as well as on fb.
